Siliguri, 19th Aug’19: Huge quantity of Gold biscuits seized from Phansidewa, Siliguri, 3 persons detained.
On a specific inputs, The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) team conducted a special operation and seized 10 kilograms of Gold biscuits and arrested three people with a Bolero vehicle near Phansidewa – Goalpokhar.
The DRI team recovered 60 gold biscuits under the seat cover of the vehicle, weighing around 10 kgs. The DRI has stated that the market value of the seized gold biscuits is around Rs 3 Crore 80 lakh.

The DRI have arrested three persons namely Zomuamkima, H. Rualsangpuia and Lalneihlaiaunder, under Customs Act 1962 Section 104 and presented them in Siliguri court today. According to information received from DRI sources, it was reported from secret sources that three people have left for Kolkata with the aim of smuggling around 10 kg gold in a bolero vehicle from Aizawl Mizoram. After this, the DRI team carried out a search operation near Guwalpokhar and stopped the bolero on suspicion and while searching, recovered 60 pieces of gold biscuits from inside the seat cover. The three accused arrested are said to be residents of Mizoram.
