TWO SMUGGLERS WITH RARE LEOPARD’S SKIN ARRESTED

Jaigaon, Jan 11: SSB Jaigaon arrested two smugglers from Jaigaon under Alipurduar district of West Bengal with a leopard skin. The skin of the clouded leopard (a rare species of cat family) measured approximately 135 CM × 40 CM. In this case, two Bhutnese nationals has been apprehended namely Geta Raj Gallay of Pemaling, Samtse (Bhutan) and Khemlal Chhetri of Chongaykha, Chukha (Bhutan) from Subhash Pally, Jaigaon.

The skin was being smuggled from Bhutan to India and the smugglers were further planning to sell it to some unknown person in Jaigaon. The apprehended persons alongwith the seized items has been handed over to the Forest Range office Kodal Basti, Alipurduar.
