Stalls were set up which highlighted various schemes of the Government.
A health camp was also held in which test for blood groups, diabetes, AIDS etc were done. Free medicines, disability certification, Saboojsathi bicycles, SC ST certificates, Loans to SHGs Football kits (to Registered Clubs) etc were distributed.
A crowd of atleast 5000 peoples attended the programme.
DM Alipurduar Said :
“The biggest problem at Tea Gardens is the lack of awareness of the residents there, majority of whom are ST/SC. Having seen Tea Gardens in 3 states namely Bengal, Assam & Kerala, I can confidently state that the West Bengal Govt under the leadership of our Hon’ble CM Mamata Banerjee is providing maximum benefits to Tea Garden residents. The WB Govt has multiple number of welfare schemes for them like 35 Kg Ration @ Rs 2 per KG, Shikhasree scholarships, Kanyasree, Swasthya Sathi, Samajik Suraksha Yojana etc”
