Food Quality Raids at Birpara : 6 Shops Sealed

Food Quality Raids at Madarihat Birpara

Birpara, 5th October : To ensure better quality of food and hygiene, a fresh raids were conducted at Birpara today (5th October, 2018) for enforcing food quality standards. A team led by Suman Sourav Mohanty (BDO Madarihat), Birpura Police Station OC Abhishek Bhattacharya and Alipurduar’s Food Department representatives were along with the team.

Another round of food quality & hygiene raids were conducted on 5th October in Madarihat Birpara Block. Atleast 8 shops were visited today in which 7 shops were found not having any FSSAI License.

Six shops have been sealed down for unhygienic food, storing of stale & rotten food and unhygienic cooking conditions.

The name of the sealed shops are

  • Swagat Sweets
  • Jaylakshmi Mistanna Bhandar
  • Jaydurga Mistanna Bhandar
  • Dilkhush
  • Asian Inn
  • Lawaza

Lovely sweets has been sealed down since they were found to be using Kerosene for cooking & was found to be in possession of huge stocks of kerosene and hence violated PDS norms & posed fire & safety hazards.

All shops sealed down shall take necessary measures to improve safety, security and hygiene within 15 days.

Earlier Ten days ago, half of the hotels and restaurants of Madarihat raided by the administration in which five were sealed down for not maintaining hygiene.
