International Aadiwasi Diwas observed across Dooars

“Vishwa Adivasi Diwas 2018” (International Day of the World’s Indigenous People) was celebrated across Dooars.

The United Nations’ (UN) International Day of the World’s Indigenous People is observed on 9th of August each year to promote and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population.

On direction of Hon’ble CM Mamata Banerjee, the event was observed in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The programme showcased the indigenous culture & the contribution made by them to our freedom struggle. This event also educated the tribal about their rights in the 21st century. People from different places in the district attended the event.

At Malbazar

In addition to the Adivasi Diwas, the Alipurduar District Administration’s innovative “Aapnaar Baagane Proshasan/Sarkar Baagan ke Dwaar Programme” was also held earlier with objectives to bring administration closer to TGs and awareness was created about the flagship schemes like Kanyasree, Rupasree, Shikhasree etc and grievances were received & addressed on the spot. Health camp was also held.
