A large section of people started tweeting in fear that it might become an epidemic like the corona virus. People are saying that if the people of China do not stop eating animals alive then this will continue to happen. In the midst of the ongoing debate on social media, let us know what is Hanta virus and is it as deadly as corona?

In China, there is a tradition of eating animals. People also eat rats. In such a situation, the possibility of this disease remains constant. It spreads to humans by coming in contact with a rat or squirrel.

Know what is Hanta Virus

Experts believe that the Hanta virus is not as deadly as the corona virus. Unlike the corona, it does not spread human to human. It is spread by human exposure to a rat or squirrel. According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ‘mice coming in and out of the house may cause the risk of Hanta virus infection. Even if a healthy person comes in contact with the virus, then there is a risk of getting infected.’

Although the hanta virus does not pass from one person to another but if a person touches their eyes, nose and mouth after touching the feces, urine etc. of mice then there is an increased risk of getting infected with the hanta virus.

In its initial symptoms, humans feel cold and have fever. After this, the person suffers with headache, body ache. Dry cough comes after one to two days followed by stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea etc. There is difficulty in breathing. If the treatment is delayed, the lungs of the infected person also get filled with water having trouble in breathing.

Is Hanta virus deadly?

According to the CDC, the Hanta virus is fatal. The death toll of infected people is 38 percent. This mostly happens in rural areas of China. Due to this, many climbers and camping tourists have problems. However, it is not as deadly as the corona virus. This case of Hanta virus has come in China at a time when the whole world is struggling with the epidemic of Corona virus from Wuhan as a epicentre. So far 18,941 people have died due to corona virus. Not only this, 424,875 people of the world have been infected with Corona virus. The prevalence of corona virus can be gauged from the fact that the virus has now spread to 196 countries.
