Speedy vechicle ran over kid in Banarhat, locals blocks NH17 in protest

Banarhat, 8th July: A 12-year-old kid killed under wheels of a speedy vehicle in Lakhipara tea garden under Banarhat PS in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on wednesday.

According to the sources, the accident happened on NH17 near Lakhipara Chowpati area. The pickup truck was at very high speed while it ran over the kid and fled away. The kid died on spot as the vechile crushed his head. The deceased kid has been identified as Abhijit Giri Sanyasi (12yrs) of Lakhipara TG.

As per the local sources, school children were being given ration at Lakhipara Primary School near Lakhipara Chowpati area. Abhijeet was among those students who was going to school to get the ration, but he was crushed by a high speed car on the high road. Accusing the police administration, the local people said that despite the presence of guards and barricading, how such an unfortunate incident happened?

Raged locals burnt the motorcycle of civic volunteers present who was on duty at that area and blocked national highway 17 in protest to nab the vehicle and it’s driver.
