Woman commits suicide by jumping into Teesta river at Sevoke Coronation bridge

Siliguri, 27th February : A dead body of an elderly women was lifted from the Teesta river along Sevoke Coronation bridge on 25th of February.

The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Narayani Paul, a resident of Siliguri Hyderpara. She was reportedly missing since Tuesday morning of 25th of February and was found dead near Sevoke Coronation bridge on the same day. She was mentally ill as reported.

According to the sources, the woman commited suicide by jumping into the Teesta river from Coronation bridge. The incident occurred in morning at Sevoke Coronation bridge at around 10:30 am.

However, the local Police force after getting the initial information, rushed towards the spot with rescue team but she was already dead. The body of the woman was recovered from Teesta river below the bridge with the help of fire brigade.

The police took the body under their possession and sent it for autopsy. After medical verification the body will be handed to the family of the deceased.
