Youth crushed to death as tree falls on motorcycle during thunderstorm in Banarhat

Banarhat, 2nd March: A youth died in a very unfortunate accident on Monday evening, when a tree fell over him while riding motorcycle on National Highway 31.

At around 7 pm on Monday, the accident occurred on National Highway 31 near Diana bridge located in Dooars under Banarhat police station jurisdiction. According to the information received, the deceased has been identified as Nitesh Sarki (22), a resident of Darjeeling’s Bijanbari tea garden.

As per local sources, the bike rider was going towards Siliguri from Banarhat. At the same time, strong winds were blowing in the area accompanied with thunderstorms and rain. A tree broke and crashed over the youth due to strong winds. Nitesh along with his bike was crushed under the tree and died on the spot.

On receiving the information about the incident, Banarhat police arrived at the spot. The youth was rushed to Banarhat Primary health Centre where the he was declared dead.
